Sowing your tractor stories

September 2025

We've all heard the saying "if walls could talk"—we're putting a farming twist on it and are curious what stories your tractor is holding.

September is harvest season in Oklahoma, and while the combines are rolling and the grain trucks are rumbling, we’re gathering something a little different this year. Instead of asking you to cast votes for the Best of OKL contest, we’re trying something new — and we think it’s going to be a lot of fun.

For our January 2026 edition, we’re shining the spotlight on one of the hardest-working, most reliable characters in Oklahoma’s story: the tractor. Big or small, shiny or rusty, fresh off the lot or held together with baling wire and prayer, tractors have been helping Oklahomans get the job done for generations.

We want to hear your tractor tales. Maybe you’ve got a family heirloom that still starts on the first try. Or a trusty machine that’s pulled more than its fair share. Or a “what-was-I-thinking” moment that still gets a laugh around the dinner table.

As one of the co-op families we featured this month reminded me, not all harvests are measured in bushels. Some are found in the stories we share. Send us your story and a photo if you have one on our submissions page by Nov. 1. It will be a tough job, but we will pick a few favorites to feature.

So while you’re hauling in the harvest this fall, take a minute to harvest a story or two. After all, the grain will be in the bin soon enough, but a good tractor story lasts forever.
