About Oklahoma’s Electric Cooperatives
Electric cooperatives are not-for-profit, member-owned utilities created to serve areas once overlooked. Today, Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives power homes, farms, schools, hospitals and small businesses in all 77 counties, serving nearly one million Oklahomans.
Because co-ops are owned by the members they serve, decisions are made locally with a focus on long-term reliability, community investment and affordability rather than profit. Through OAEC, Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives work together to advocate for smart energy policy, provide education and training and ensure rural voices are heard in state and national conversations.
