Honey-bourbon slow cooker meatballs
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 2 Hansen’s eggs
- 2 tablespoons Spice Girl Kitchen Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons Scissortail Farms basil, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 pounds ground beef
- ½ cup panko bread crumbs
For the sauce:
- 2 cups ketchup
- ½ cup Roark Acres honey
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- ¾ cup Hochatown Distilling Co. bourbon
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
Directions
To make the meatballs – preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Mix eggs, Italian seasoning, basil, salt, pepper and garlic powder together in a large bowl. Add beef and panko, mixing thoroughly. Shape mixture into about 40 (1 1/2-inch) balls. Place on ungreased, rimmed baking sheets. Bake about 15 minutes, turning halfway through cooking time.
To make sauce – in a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, bourbon, red pepper flakes and garlic. Place meatballs in the slow cooker. Pour sauce over and stir to coat the meatballs. Place lid on and set the timer to 4-5 hours on low. Stir meatballs, and serve hot.
