President's Volunteer Service Award
Members of the 2018 Energy Trails team from Oklahoma’s and Colorado’s electric co-ops received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for providing first-time electricity to villages in Guatemala.
“Through your dedicated service, you have ensured the continuation of America’s unparalleled commitment to improving the lives of others,” reads a White House letter received by each 2018 Energy Trails lineman volunteer.
Through their selfless work, the villages of Pie del Cerro and Tierra Blanca Salinas received power for the first time last fall, empowering more than 110 households and businesses. The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives Director of Safety and Loss Control, Derec Janaway, served as Team Leader for this project. Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives are proud of each volunteer for their strong commitment to empower lives both at home and abroad.
