Red Hot Latte

Red Hot Latte


1 cup espresso or coffee brewed double strength
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons cinnamon simple syrup (see recipe below)
Whipped cream for garnish
Cinnamon for garnish
Red hots for garnish


Brew the coffee. Place milk into a small canning jar with lid. Shake for 1 minute to create froth. Remove lid. Heat in the microwave for 45 seconds. To assemble lattes, divide simple syrup between 2 mugs. Add coffee and stir. Pour half of the milk into each of the mugs. Top with whipped cream, sprinkle with cinnamon, and garnish with red hots. 

For the cinammon syple syrup:

Yields about 3/4 cup

1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cinnamon stick

Add water, sugar and cinnamon stick to small saucepan. Boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. Pour through wire sieve to remove cinnamon sticks.
