My co-op does that?
Electricity may be the service most often associated with an electric cooperative, but it is only part of the story.

At Cimarron Electric Cooperative, service also means noticing what a community needs and finding a way to help. It can look like a check placed in a family’s hands, a case of water carried through a school doorway or a warm meal delivered with time for conversation. These moments offer a closer look at the people behind the power lines and the many ways they put concern for community into action.
A family supported
When a local family’s son began undergoing cancer treatment, Cimarron Electric Cooperative employees wanted them to know they were not facing it alone. Through their employee sponsored and funded group, The Power of Us, they presented the family with a check to help ease some of the financial strain and offer a tangible reminder of the community standing beside them.
Bottling up opportunity
Cases of water delivered by Cimarron Electric Cooperative serve more than one purpose at area schools. Students can drink the water or sell it during games, programs and other activities to raise money. It is a simple delivery that helps schools meet everyday needs while supporting the experiences that bring students and communities together.
Beauty in the details
Youth Tour gives students an opportunity to see leadership and public service in action. For one former participant, Kinze Cowan, that experience carried home. Ahead of the Watonga Cheese Festival, the student took on a beautification project to help the community put its best foot forward for neighbors and visitors.
Doorstep delivery with a smile
For Cimarron Electric Cooperative employees, delivering Meals on Wheels means more than carrying food from a vehicle to a front door. Each stop brings a warm meal, a friendly face and a chance to check in. Together, employees help make sure some of their neighbors remain fed, connected and remembered. A cooperative’s work can be measured in poles, miles of line and meters served. Its impact, however, is also found in the lives it touches. Cimarron Electric Cooperative shows the answer to “My co-op does that?” is almost always, “yes.”
Answering the call
Volunteer firefighters are often the first to arrive when their neighbors face fire, accidents or other emergencies. Cimarron Electric Cooperative supports these departments and the men and women, some of whom are co-op employees, who step forward to serve. These connections help strengthen the
network of local responders rural
communities depend on.
